  2.    WELCOME TO WinEdit!
  3.  
  4.    This disk contains WinEdit version 2.0N, 
  5.    and several associated utilities and files.
  6.  
  7.    WinEdit is a fast and powerful ASCII/ANSI text editor.  It is available
  8.    in three different levels of functionality:
  9.  
  10.    WinEdit Lite       Provides super fast editing of any size text file.
  11.                       Handy button bar for common operations.
  12.                       $29.95

  14.    WinEdit Standard   Adds the ability to compile programs directly from
  15.                       WinEdit and view the output to fix errors.

  18.    WinEdit Pro        Adds a complete macro scripting language to allow
  19.                       professional users to write their own WinEdit menus.

  22.    All three levels are contained within the same executable program, in both
  23.    the evaluation and registered versions.  By selecting "Lite", "Standard", or
  24.    "Professional" from the "File ... Settings" menu, you enable all features at
  25.    that level.  When you register WinEdit, you will receive a registration
  26.    number which will allow you to use WinEdit at the registration level you
  27.    have selected, although you will still be able to use features belonging to
  28.    a higher level on an evaluation basis.  For example, if you register WinEdit
  29.    at the Standard level, you would select "Standard" from the settings menu,
  30.    so that only Standard-level functions will appear on the WinEdit menus, and
  31.    everything would operate normally.  If you decided to select "Professional"
  32.    from the settings menu, additional functions would become available, but if
  33.    you used one of those Pro-level functions you would first receive a message
  34.    informing you that the feature you had selected is not included in the
  35.    Standard level, and that you should upgrade to the higher level if you plan
  36.    to continue using that function.  You can upgrade to a higher level at any
  37.    time; the cost is the difference in registration price between the level you
  38.    are currently registered for and the level you are upgrading to, plus $5.00.

  42.    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  44.    WinEdit requires an IBM PC or compatible with a minimum of 2
  45.    megabytes of RAM, a rodent, 1 MB of hard drive space and
  46.    Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or higher.

  51.    Registered users receive our new "Dialog Editor" which allows them to
  52.    graphically construct dialog boxes, (a lot like the Visual Basic dialog
  53.    editor), and other utilities to help make programming WinEdit macro
  54.    scripts just a tad easier and faster.

  60.    corporate software engineering projects which require high technology
  61.    assistance, custom Windows programming, or custom interfaces to suites

  67.    WinEdit 2.0 is a major update from previous versions.  It is a "free
  68.    for the download" update for previously registered users.   Users who
  69.    registered WinEdit prior to the 2.0 version are automatically registered
  70.    at the WinEdit "Professional" level.

  72.    Users who wish to use WinEdit at the "Professional" level may find that
  73.    since the documentation for the WIL based macro script language is quite
  74.    extensive (about 225 pages), they may desire a printed manual.  We
  75.    will be making an optional disk/manual package available to previously 
  76.    registered users at a reasonable price. Notification postcards will be sent
  77.    to the last known addresses of registered users during February 1993.  The
  78.    postcards will inform users of the availablity of WinEdit 2.0, and offer
  79.    them the chance to purchase the disk/manual set for $20.  If you are a
  80.    registered users and did not receive an update letter by March 15, 1993,
  81.    then somehow we missed you.  Call (800)-762-8383 and get it straightened
  82.    out (or call anyway if you wish to jump the gun and purchase the 
  83.    disk/manual package immediately).

  90.    Most files will end in a _ (underscore).   Some of them have been
  91.    compressed and will be expanded by the setup program, whileas the
  92.    others are simply renamed.  In any case, the setup program
  93.    (WSETUP.EXE) should take care of moving the files around.

  154.                HOW TO INSTALL WINEDIT
  155.  
  156.    Use our WSETUP.EXE program, which will copy the files for you and install
  157.    a WINEDIT group in the Program Manager.
  158.    To use our WSETUP.EXE program...   (Manual install instructions below)

  160.      1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.
  161.  
  162.      2) Double-Click on the WSETUP.EXE program
  163.  
  164.      3) When the setup program asks for a directory, specify initial
  165.         directory, or accept the given default (C:\WINEDIT).
